Turning a new leaf in LICO’s production

As COO Suvi Blomback started her parental leave in January 2025, engineer Jani Rintanen, LICO’s latest reinforcement, embraced the role of the Production Manager. The well-prepared handover brings LICO a fresh perspective and an opportunity to develop the production further. Let’s hear what Suvi and Jani have to say.

At LICO, the future is built on a strong foundation. In 2011, Suvi joined Lico as a Design Engineer. Her journey has taken her through various roles, including Project Engineer, Project Manager, Development Manager, and COO. For the past six months, Suvi’s responsibilities have also included managing LICO’s production.
“Over the years, diversity and growth have kept me motivated. I’ve worked on significant initiatives, such as promoting sustainable mobility and developing quality processes, production efficiency and employee well-being. Furthermore, I’ve seen LICO grow and evolve tremendously in every aspect. It’s a great time to pass the turn in production to Jani,” Suvi says.

Having been involved practically in every operation at LICO, from product development to management, Suvi has been able to introduce Jani to his upcoming tasks comprehensively.
“We’ve carefully planned and prepared the handover for months, ensuring Jani has optimal starting points for managing and developing the production,” Suvi emphasizes.

As LICO’s project manager, Jani’s responsibilities include managing the daily production at the Kurikka and Koskenkorva factories, consisting of 27 professionals. Modern manufacturing methods and a motivated team ensure efficient production at both locations while enhancing workplace safety and minimizing environmental impacts. The operations are certified under ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards in compliance with REACH and SAQ4.0.

“Additionally, we align with the UN Global Compact and prioritize safe, efficient, and sustainable production. Also, we continuously develop our processes, with plans for ISO/TS 22163 and ISO/TS 16949 certifications, for example,” Suvi adds.

Culture and cooperation matters

“LICO’s forward-thinking culture drew me in. When I joined the company, I immediately noticed the strong team spirit, reflecting our work’s quality. Concurrently, I believe there is always room for improvement and innovation,” Jani says.

Jani has over 17 years of experience in industrial projects, procurement, cost estimations and steel structures. Living in Kurikka, he appreciates the short commute, local roots, and community. Jani enjoys casual ice hockey and outdoor activities with his dog in his free time.

“I’m inspired to turn my focus to the mobility industry and composites and learn new things. Feel free to contact me with any questions, feedback or ideas about our production. The best results are achieved together,” Jani encourages.
